Roy Roberts.
Roy Roberts graduated from Southampton Art College with a degree in fine art then formed an advertising business in the early ’70s after a five year period as a professional musician recording with Tony Hatch at PYE records…. sharing the stage with The Who, Rod Stewart, the early Fleetwood Mac, Eric Clapton, Ronnie Wood, Jeff Beck and more. Roy’s songs are still being re-released on current LP Vinyl box sets and CD box sets featuring ’Hit Mod Sounds of the 60’s’. A 45 vinyl single was re-released in 2021.
During his advertising career with the marketing group, OWEN, Roy also specialised as a yacht photographer, photographing over 150 Superyachts, (also many villas and private islands) around the world for over 30 years with work published in most of the world’s yachting and travel titles, newspapers, magazines and even ‘Hello!’ magazine!
Roy started painting again more recently, inspired by artists such as Edward Seago, Sorolla, the ‘Spanish master of light’, and the many impressionists.
Living by the water and owning a boat in the Solent area for decades and having a particular affinity with the Isle of Wight going back to childhood holidays at Bembridge, it is not surprising that many of the images he enjoys painting feature marine environments which are featured in the ‘our art’ section. Roy has painted in Australia and Spain and will consider special commissions on all subjects.
Roy joined Kendalls Fine Art in Cowes in 2022 with paintings exhibited in their prestigious gallery.
